FEDORA's Activities, Industry News
In 2021, FEDORA and Opera Europa launched an initiative that provides financial support and skills development to boost innovation through sustainability, inclusivity, and digital transformation.
The Next Stage Grants financially support the projects that help create new industry standards and rethink the way the sector sources, creates and operates behind and beyond the stage. Moreover, through the Next Stage Forums, professional development and training will be given to the management and artistic teams to boost knowledge sharing and peer-learning.
The shortlisted projects of the first edition of the Grants will be announced on 29 April 2022 in Düsseldorf during our joint capacity building event with our partner Opera Europa at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Stay Tuned!
In summer 2021, the international management consulting company Kearney, conducted a pro-bono study with 100 opera houses and dance companies all over Europe in order to identify challenges, opportunities and best practices for the future of opera and dance.
This year, with the desire to develop an incentive for artistic creations to be more sustainable and inclusive, FEDORA implemented a new evaluation criterion for the artistic projects applying for the prizes. This “sustainable approach” criterion takes into consideration how the projects intend to include eco-friendly measures in their sourcing, production and distribution processes, how innovative their projects are and how they contribute to setting new standards for the industry.
The FEDORA Prizes encourage the next generation of talent to bring the unexpected to the stage. The four established prizes (Opera, Dance, Education and Digital) support cutting-edge artistic projects that promote international collaboration, creativity, social integration and intercultural dialogue, as well as digital innovation on and beyond the stage.
